"The Fake battery app android hacking users witch charger ransom ware".

Android users trying to avoid drained batteries may instead find their coffers drained if they download the fake utility app Energy Rescue, which distributes ransomware.

There has been recent reports about an android app that promised users it saves battery life on Google play. When in fact the app had a hidden agenda unknown to the users. The app actually steals important information stored on the phone unknowingly to the users, from bank accounts information, contacts and SMS messages. Once the app has all the information a notice is displayed to the user saying " your information has been downloaded into a malicious server", shocking many users who became victims to the app. The worst part seems to be a ransom note that later appears after the warning notice. The note threatens to sell all you information for all to see, unless the demands have been follow. Although some tend to turn off the phone a warning is soon displayed saying " it is meaningless to shut off the phone all information has been stored and will be sold unless these demands are met". The demands usually ranges about $180 in order to obtain back your stolen information. The app itself is fully coded making it difficult to find the hackers responsible for the randoms notes. The app has been remove from google play in order to prevent more users from becoming victims. The article interested me because their are so many apps on google play that are downloaded everyday, some having description saying it will help the users and phone service. Although, this is terrifying because some don't know if the app could be a scam to hack users. This made me realize that is better to not download an app you do not fully trust in order to avoid accidents like this. I felt truly sadden and scared about this happening to many people and not only on this app, but on other apps that could be made for scamming. The lesson is just be careful of the things you download on your phone.
